A Japanese-style painter of the Tokyo circle. He participated in the re-foundation of the In-ten (Japan Visual Arts Academy), and was active mainly in this academy, by which he was admired as one of three best painters there. He learned the traditional Yamato-e (one of the most traditional painting-styles in Japan) painted many historical paintings along with portraits and Kacho-ga (paintings for the nature such as birds and flowers etc.) mainly with precise depictions.
